After visiting Milan and Paris, the third edition of the ESIL Study Visits series will be held in London on 9-12 July 2019. UKBAA is hosting this 4 day-expedition in the European Tech Hub which will include a trip to the renowned innovation hub of Cambridge, the birthplace of science-based angel investing in Europe.
This will be a selective meeting for investors interested in discussing how to create an Effective Angel Ecosystem, and what better way to do it than learning from the UK example.
London has been named the top city in the world for foreign direct investment, it’s known as the ‘Top Tech Hub of the World’, and it is within the Top-3 ecosystems listed in the 2019 Global Startup Ecosystem Ranking.
The programme for the Study Visit is varied and with a range of opportunities, including the chance to visit RocketSpace UKBAA Angel Hub – Scale-up incubator, part of the Silicon Valley Rocket space programme. As an alternative, and only for the women participating at the event, there will be the option to join UKBAA Women Angel Investing National Forum, where more than 100 women investors will come together to share experiences.
On the morning of Wednesday 11th, attendees will discuss Building a successful ecosystem to support investment in innovation, and see the examples of the new UK £100m Regional Angels Programme Co-Investment Funds launched by British Business Investment and the Presentation of the new regional Angel Investment Accelerator. In the afternoon, participants will be lucky to visit the Bradfield Centre Cambridge Science Park and meet with the leading Angel groups in Cambridge, which is the Birthplace of (Science-Based) European Angel Investing. The sudden and rapid rise of Cambridge as an innovation hub has a name: “The Cambridge Phenomenon”.
The Study Visit to the UK will end on July 12th with a workshop on Building and Mobilising Lead angel capacity.
IMPORTANT: Due to limited space, we invite you to submit an application for attendance via the link here. Please do not make travel arrangements yet, as the organisers will assess the applications and then inform you in due time whether you have been selected to attend.
