On the 9th of May 2019, ESIL’s local leader in Malta – MIMCOL – organised INVESTOR CONNECT, an exclusive afternoon where early stage investors discussed, learnt and shared ideas and best practices to get better results from their investments.
Overall, more than one hundred people attended. The event was headlined by top French angel investor Anne Lebreton Wolf, followed by a panel and two private roundtables - an investor roundtable and a start-up roundtable. The event ended with a start-up pitching session of carefully selected start-ups looking for investment.
The feedback after the event confirmed that an event specifically for angel investors was much needed in Malta, and there seems to be sufficient interest to actually create the first organised business angels network on the island. The experiences shared by Anne Lebreton Wolf on her angel investments proved to be most interesting for investors and inspirational for the start-up founders present. Additionally attendees found very useful the networking opportunities and have encouraged us to organise them with a regular frequency.
Malta’s Minister for the Economy, Investment and Small Businesses, Dr Chris Cardona, also attended this event. “The economy has now matured for a start-up investing ecosystem," he said.
